Asher Liftin
B. 1998
Based in New York
Growing up in New York City, he developed a fascination for art and constructing images. While at Yale University Liftin studied cognitive science and visual art to explore how the brain is able to generate meaning out of two-dimensional visual signals from the environment. This investigation is turned on its head in Liftin’s art practice where images are constructed materially prior to perception. This playful relationship between image perception and image construction is a source of fascination that is explored throughout Liftin’s art practice and developed through themes of art history and contemporary culture.
