Oliver Meier
B. 1987
Based in Germany
Oliver Meier's works draw inspiration from all kinds of influences like metaphysics, existentialism, mathematical theories, politics and art history. They explore the way we perceive and experience the world around us as a complex formation of different ideas and conceptions. His choice of materials ranges from classic oil paint, in which he mixes chalk, wax and resin to alter the formal purpose of the paint, to more contemporary materials like spray paint and masking tape. The contrast that evolves using different thicknesses of paint has always played an important part in his art and reflects the controversies and complex structures of modern day societies.
